(Aug. 18, 2010) – The Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA) today announced that 26 Orange County auto technology students received a total of $19,500 in scholarships from local automotive dealers as part of the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) Scholarship Foundation. The winning students, which also included 32 students from other areas of California, will use the scholarships to support their automotive technology studies. 04/19/2010 – FOOTHILL RANCH CHEVROLET MOVES TO IRVINE IRVINE, Calif. (April 19, 2010) – It will be a homecoming for Mark Dershem when he opens Chevrolet of Irvine in the Irvine Auto Center on May 3, 2010. More than 16 years ago, Dershem worked as general manager at Joe MacPherson Chevrolet, the pioneering and much-respected auto dealership that served Orange County from 1958 to 2007. 04/13/2010 – ORANGE COUNTY STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION TO BECOME “AMERICA’S TOP TECHNICIANS” ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 13, 2010) — Jonathan Greenhalgh and Ben Hicks, students with the Loara High School ROP program in Anaheim, Calif., took first place at the 2010 National Automotive Technology Competition held April 6-7 during the New York International Automobile Show. The Loara team, sponsored by the Orange County (Calif.) Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA), competed in the auto industry’s largest school-to-work initiative, which pits the nation’s best high school automotive vocational education students against one another for the title of “America’s Top Technician.” The team, which is part of the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (ROP), was led by instructor, Russ Bacarella. (Dec. 15, 2009) — Tustin Auto Center (www.tustinautocenter.com) has found a way to make the holidays less busy by giving residents an easy way to share the holiday spirit with those less fortunate in the local community. Now through December 31, the auto center will serve as a drop-off point for Orange County Rescue Mission’s “Heart for Hunger” campaign. Customers and residents can drop food items in bins located at each of the 13 dealerships in the Tustin Auto Center.
