Orange County Dealers Sold More New Vehicles Than Those in 25 States
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Mar. 15, 2016) – The Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA), based in Newport Beach, Calif., today reports that the local economic impact of the 123 franchised auto dealers in the county was $12 billion in 2015, an increase of 10% over 2014. The 2015 Economic Impact Report, released by OCADA, shows that Orange County’s automobile dealers sold 298,275 new and used vehicles, generating more than $730 million in sales tax of which over $91 million goes directly to local cities. Orange County’s franchised dealers employ 12,300 people with a total payroll of more than $676 million.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Mar. 1, 2016) – After months of intense training and study, two high school students from Anaheim, Calif., proved they had what it takes to become champions. On Sat., Feb. 27, Andrew Ashteokenyan and Azat Barsoumian, who are in the North Orange County ROP program at Loara High School, prevailed at the 23rd annual Automotive Technology Competition, sponsored by the Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA). Now they will continue their rigorous training before they head to New York at the end of this month to represent Orange County in the National Automotive Technology Competition.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Mar. 13, 2013) – The 2012 Economic Impact Report, released today by the Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA), based in Newport Beach, Calif., states that the total economic impact of local franchised new vehicle dealers in 2012 was approximately $9 billion reflecting an increase of 15 percent from 2011, when the total impact was $7.6 billion. The study also reports a total of 173,342 new vehicles and 76,700 used vehicles sold during the year and more than a half a billion dollars in sales tax revenues generated, of which $68 million goes directly to Orange County cities. Additionally, Orange County new car dealerships remain collectively one of the largest employers in the county with more than 11,000 employees and a total payroll of $590 million.

Loara High School ROP will have a chance at winning a second national title for their school, which won the national competition in 2010. Making the victory that much sweeter, Kia Motors America donated a Kia Sorrento SUV to the Loara High School ROP automotive technology program. (Oct. 4, 2012) – Through a unique fundraising program developed by the Orange County Automobile Dealers Association, 91 Orange County schools raised more than $50,000, reflecting a 300 percent increase in funds raised from the previous year. The brainchild of Orange County’s auto dealers, the program was created to offset the impact of continuing budget cuts on sports, music and arts programs at schools countywide.

At a time when schools throughout the county are facing dramatic cuts for the coming school year, this fundraising effort will raise critical funds for sports, music, and arts programs as well as student groups and clubs. To date more than 40,000 students from 97 schools have joined the program, and registrations will be accepted until August 31.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Mar. 9, 2012) – The 2011 Economic Impact Report, released today by the Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA), based in Newport Beach, Calif., reports that the total economic impact of local franchised new vehicle dealers in 2011 was $7.6 billion reflecting an increase of 15.7 percent from 2010, when the total impact was $6.4 billion. The study also shows a total of 142,740 new vehicles and 81,900 used vehicles sold during the year amounting to more than $457 million in tax revenues generated, of which $59 million goes directly to Orange County cities. Additionally, Orange County new car dealerships are collectively the fourth largest employer in the county with more than $550 million in total payroll. In 2011, local dealers added 585 employees for a total of 11,115 employees countywide.

More than $1.1 million in scholarships have been awarded to winners since 1994. (Aug. 18, 2010) – The Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA) today announced that 26 Orange County auto technology students received a total of $19,500 in scholarships from local automotive dealers as part of the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) Scholarship Foundation. IRVINE, Calif. (April 19, 2010) – It will be a homecoming for Mark Dershem when he opens Chevrolet of Irvine in the Irvine Auto Center on May 3, 2010. 04/13/2010 – ORANGE COUNTY STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION TO BECOME “AMERICA’S TOP TECHNICIANS”
ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 13, 2010) — Jonathan Greenhalgh and Ben Hicks, students with the Loara High School ROP program in Anaheim, Calif., took first place at the 2010 National Automotive Technology Competition held April 6-7 during the New York International Automobile Show. The Loara team, sponsored by the Orange County (Calif.) Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA), competed in the auto industry’s largest school-to-work initiative, which pits the nation’s best high school automotive vocational education students against one another for the title of “America’s Top Technician.”
The team, which is part of the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (ROP), was led by instructor, Russ Bacarella. Major support came from OCADA and Toyota of Orange, which provided on-site training and support for five months leading up to the competition.

TUSTIN, Calif. (Dec. 15, 2009) — Tustin Auto Center (www.tustinautocenter.com) has found a way to make the holidays less busy by giving residents an easy way to share the holiday spirit with those less fortunate in the local community. ORANGE COUNTY, CA (May, 2008) – The Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA) today announced that seven local automobile dealer groups in Orange County rank among the top 125 dealer groups in the nation based on 2007 new vehicle retail sales units. The Orange County Automobile Dealers Association (OCADA) today released its 2008 Economic Impact Report numbers for 2007. This year’s results once again underscore that Orange County automobile dealers are a major contributor to the local economy and community. Dealership sales for the year came in at $8.5 billion and charitable contributions nearly doubled from $6.7 million to $12 million in 2007.
